Dale Fowler, President of the UWSI Board of Directors, recently announced a regional goal of $533,500 for this year’s United Way Annual Campaign.
“We know these are challenging times for Southern
Illinois
,” said Fowler. “Increases in gasoline and utility costs, along with a tight job market, have made all of us take a close look at our budgets. As we work on our finances, it’s extremely important to keep supporting all of the essential services and programs offered by United Way Affiliated Agencies.”
“United Way of Southern Illinois is doing everything it can to help fulfill its mission of improving people’s lives in southern
Illinois
,” Fowler explained. “We have streamlined our own professional staff and cut our administrative expenses as much as possible. We want to set a strong example for all of our supporters this year.”
Fowler continued, “Our ten Advisory Boards have met to consider the most pressing needs in their communities. They have identified the not-for-profit human service organizations our United Way Affiliated Agencies that have the best programs to meet those needs. And, finally, our Advisory Boards have made the commitment to raise the funds needed by their Affiliated Agencies.”
“We are asking all
United Way
supporters in Southern
Illinois
to join us in raising $533,500,” Fowler concluded. “Whether you are a small business owner, an executive in a corporate office, an employee involved in a
United Way
workplace campaign or one of our many independent donors, your contributions are needed this year more than ever. As one of our campaign slogans says, ‘Together we can accomplish what none of us can achieve alone!’”
