UWSI 2008 Funded Agencies

Every spring, United Way of Southern Illinois (UWSI) receives applications from organizations that work on community impact .  The UWSI staff check the applications, verify that the applicants are up-to-date in their certifications as IRS 501 (c) (3) not-for-profit organizations, are in good standing with the Illinois Attorney General, and have clear statements of their financial status and operations.  T

The board members carefully review the applications, conduct meetings (and, if necessary, interviews with agency personnel) to gather and share information, and assess the value of the ways in which each agency proposes to use money from United Way .  Finally, they collaborate to construct an equitable set of grant awards for agencies showing the strongest ability to make significant community impact .

The organizations listed below are an elite group:  United Way Affiliated Agencies.  You can count on the fact that they are working on what matters™ in your community.

You can reach each agency through the contact information listed here.  You can:

  • Find out more about what they do
  • Ask for assistance
  • Volunteer to help them work on community impact

You can also contact United Way of Southern Illinois for more information about a United Way Affiliated Agency.  Just click here to find out how to contact our office.
